THOUGHT: “The world is divided into people who do good things, and people who are more interested in getting the credit. Strive to belong to the first group, there is far less competition.”
CHALLENGE: Focus today on doing things for God. Don’t worry who gets the credit – God knows.
REFERENCE: “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
THOUGHT: Why not go out on a limb? That is where the fruit is.
CHALLENGE: Step away from the crowd and follow Christ’s teaching to do right thing. Don’t turn away from those in need. Help others and lead by example. Your actions will bear fruit you never dreamed of.
REFERENCE: “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.”
THOUGHT: Anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm.
CHALLENGE: Make sure in challenging times like these that you are sharing your God given blessings with those less fortunate. There is no better time than now to give of yourself.
REFERENCE: “If any of your fellow Israelites become poor and are unable to support themselves among you, help them as you would a foreigner and stranger, so they can continue to live among you.”
THOUGHT: He that would be a leader must be a bridge.
CHALLENGE: “You may or may not consider yourself a leader, but everyday you will have many opportunities to lead or at least influence others. Through your example and your actions try to be a conduit to help others to do the right thing.”
REFERENCE: …the pleasantness of one’s friend springs from his earnest counsel.
THOUGHT: A gentle hand may lead even an elephant by a single hair.
CHALLENGE: It is often easy to abuse authority. Lead like Jesus…A servant leader who guides us with a compassionate hand and a forgiving heart.
REFERENCE: “He who leads the upright along an evil path will fall into his own trap, but the blameless will receive a good inheritance.”
THOUGHT: The pessimist complains about the wind. The optimist expects it to change. The leader adjusts the sails.
CHALLENGE: Don’t waste your time just hoping and complaining. Ask God for the courage and the inner strength to take action. Keep marching forward toward your goals and use both your mind and your heart to adjust your course as necessary.
REFERENCE: “See, the LORD your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the LORD, the God of your fathers, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”””
THOUGHT: Tell me and I forget; show me and I remember; involve me and I understand.
CHALLENGE: “Throughout life we all have opportunities to mentor, to teach and to lead. Lead like Jesus by seeking ways to truly inspire others by getting them personally involved and committed. It takes a little more time and effort, but isn’t that true of most things worthwhile?”
REFERENCE: “Let my teaching drop as the rain, my speech distill as the dew, as the droplets on the fresh grass and as the showers on the herb.”
THOUGHT: Leadership does not always wear the harness of compromise.
CHALLENGE: “God calls all of us to be leaders. In a positive spirit, don’t hesitate to standup for your faith and to remain true to your values. Following the path of least resistance is usually the easiest choice, but not always the right choice. “
REFERENCE: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.

CHALLENGE: Think about WHAT is right or wrong throughout the day today. Don’t worry about who. Give credit where credit is due and see how much more can be accomplished.

THOUGHT: “The best teacher is the one who suggests rather than dogmatizes, and inspires his listener with the wish to teach himself.”
CHALLENGE: “Sound like anyone you know? How about Jesus? Be a better mentor, boss, parent, or leader in your church by emulating the ways of Jesus and inspiring those around you.”
